Girls Can! Crate March 2020 Review

Girls Can! Crate is a subscription box for girls 5-10 to teach them that they can BE and DO anything.  Boxes are $32.95/month and each box is themed around a new fearless woman.

Boxes contain 2-3 STEM/art projects, a 20 page GIRLS CAN! activity book, creative play props, a focus character trait for little ones to practice, a character trading card with a featured character trait for kids to practice, 2-3 practical tips for parents to help foster that trait in their little ones every day and MORE.

If you read my reviews, you know I just have two boys; however, I think it's important to teach boys and girls that anyone can be who they want.  I wanted to do this box with my boys, so they will learn about fearless women and that women can do anything a man can do.

Girls Can! Crate gives 10% off the profits back to non-profits that work to empower women and girls.

There were activities, games, and products you can do at home.

There several pages that explained how girls can learn to read maps, and do first aid.

Activity #1: Exploring Outdoors

This activity lets your child make a bird feeder to hang up outside. There is also a nature observation journal to record their adventures and a container to put treasures found outside.

There are step by step instructions on how to make the projects.

This project used the bird seed, kraft rol, sunbutter and ribbon. As a mom of a child with peanut allergies, I was glad to see the sunbutter.

The first step is to put the sunbutter around the tube.

Then your child rolls the tube in the bird seed and adds the ribbon.

The bird feeder is ready for birds! The tube is pretty thick, so it should hold up to weather.

The second part of the activity was a nature exploration journal, with a box and magnifying glass.

The box is big enough for small thing your child finds. The activity book makes sure children ask before collecting anything.

The nature exploration journal has pages about birds to find and other activities to do on a hike. My son can't wait to go exploring.

Activity #2 Explore Knot Tying with a Survival Bracelet

Girls Can! Crate March 2020 Review

My oldest son has made one of these bracelets in cub scouts but my youngest has never done it. This one takes about 30 mins to complete, low messiness and med/high on grown up help.

I like that there is a guide paper to use to make the bracelet.

Final Thought: I love the scouting theme of this box. I was a girl scout growing up and I think it's a great program for girls. The bird feeder and nature kit was the big hit of this box. Though this box is designed for girls, it's still a great box to teach boys about important women. If you want to subscribe, use the coupon WELCOME20 to save 20% off your 1st box.
