Girls Can! Crate February 2019 Review

Girls Can! Crate February 2019 Review

Girls Can! Crate is a subscription box for girls 4-8 to teach them that they can BE and DO anything.  Boxes are $29.95/month and each box is themed around a new fearless woman. My Girls Can! Crate February 2019 review is going up a bit late because my kids have a very intense school and we haven't had much free time.

Boxes contain 2-3 STEM/art projects, a 20 page GIRLS CAN! activity book, creative play props, a focus character trait for little ones to practice, a character trading card with a featured character trait for kids to practice, 2-3 practical tips for parents to help foster that trait in their little ones every day and MORE.

If you read my reviews, you know I just have two boys; however, I think it's important to teach boys and girls that anyone can be who they want.  I wanted to do this box with my boys, so they will learn about fearless women and that women can do anything a man can do.

Girls Can! Crate gives 10% off the profits back to non-profits that work to empower women and girls.

There is a two-page lesson about bravery and what it means to be brave. The book features famous brave women and there are a couple of scenarios for girls to explore what they would do.

The other puzzle is a two-page color spread to find the differences in both pictures.

Activity #1: Build Three Planes

Build Three Planes

This month's box gave instructions to make three different planes. Your child will build a balsa wood plane, paper airplane, and a straw plane. My son and I had a great time making planes.

Build Three Planes

Paper Airplane Your child can make this paper airplane in just six steps. Your child can choose to decorate the plan, but my son left it plan.

Straw Airplane

Straw Airplane This plane was a bit trickier to build, only because you had to hold the paper in a circle, and tape at the same time.

Balsa Airplane

Balsa Airplane Balsa airplanes are the easiest to fly, but they are fragile. Part of the plan was broken as my son put it together, but it still flew well.

Activity #2 High-Flying Stunt Game

High-Flying Stunt Game

High-Flying Stunt Game

Once all three planes are built, your child can play the game. Hang the board game between two chairs and then throw the planes in each of the holes.

High-Flying Stunt Game

You tie the scoreboard between two chairs and score points depending on what section you fly the plane through. You can also hang this in a doorway for an extra challenge.

Your child can dress up as Bessie with this aviator and mask. My son has a huge head, but this did fit, though it was a bit tight. My son still loves to dress up and pretend, so he liked this.

Each box also comes with a button, themed around the box's theme. You could get a ribbon and hang it in your child's room to display all the buttons.

Final Thought: This was a fun box and my son liked making all the airplanes. Though this box is designed for girls, it's still a great box to teach boys about important women. If you want to subscribe, use the coupon LAUNCH20 to save 20% off your 1st box.
