Barbecue in Kansas City is truly unique.  Here, four railroads traditionally brought meat from packing houses all over the country.  This month's spice blends reflect the love of barbecue and grilling.  In Kansas City, meat is often seasoned with a dry rub, then sauced.

Kansas City Style Pork: This recipe combines RawSpiceBar's Sweet Kansas Rub with pork spare ribs to make a sweet, savory flavor.  The Kansas Rub is a freshly ground blend of yellow mustard seeds, sweet paprika and chipotle and cayenne chiles.  You can also use this rub to marinate meats like chicken or to grill hearty vegetables.

Hickory Smoked Potato Salad: Hickory Smoked salt gives a smoky flavor to a classic potato salad recipe.  Red potatoes are paired with red wine vinegar, vegetable broth, whole grain mustard, salt and pepper, and a few green onions to make this must-have barbecue side.

Watermelon & Charnushka Sesame Salad:   These sesame seeds give a peppery & nutty flavor to cooling summer fruits.  This recipe calls for mixing the spices with goat cheese and watermelon, and drizzling with a dressing of orange and lemon juices, olive oil and salt and pepper.

Final Thought:  RawSpiceBar is a great subscription for people who love to try new things in their cooking and experience different flavors from around the globe.  Each month features a new theme and corresponding spices.  It's only $6.00/month, so what do you have to lose by trying it?
