Doodle Crate Felting Ornaments Review

Doodle Crate Felting Ornaments Review

Doodle Crate has released several Holiday Crates that are just plain adorable.  I was sent the Doodle Crate Needle Felting Kit for review.  The kit is on sale for $17.95 right now and Kiwi Crate still has their 50% off sale, so you can grab this kit for only $8.97!.  There are many more kits to choose from and the 50% store sale works on ANYTHING.

012

The kit shipped in a regular Doodle Crate.

082

There was a fold out instruction guide to help guide your through the crafting process.

087

There was an introduction to needle felting.  Doodle Crate gave some basic instructions and tips (aka don't stab yourself with the needles).

088

There was step by step instructions for each ornament.  Once you do one, the others are pretty easy.

084

Doodle Crate included three pieces of felt, which is the back to the ornaments.  The foam block is one of your tools, as is the cookie cutter.  The felting material was all rolled up together, but the colors are all separated and were easy to pull apart.

086

There was a felting tool with three needles inside and Doodle Crate included three extra needles.  There was also glue and ribbon to make your ornaments.

081

This is everything in the box.

001

This is a basic look at the felting process.  I actually broke all three needles on my first ornament, so I was glad there was extra.  I learned not to stab but to apply even pressure.

002

The ornament patterns required you to felt different colors in sections.

003

Almost done.  The hardest part was cutting the star shape around the felting.  I think my 6 year old might have been able to do better.

Snowman

Snowman: This one took the most time because you had to roll the felt into a ball and then felt like normal.

Penguin

Penguin: This one was tricky to get the eyes just right.  My little guy looks a bit kooky.

Santa Clause

Santa Clause:  I should have used the green felt instead of the red, but I am pretty happy how it turned out.

My finished works of art!

Final Thought:  This project was really fun and while I don't claim to be an artist, I think everything turned out well.  This craft is a great choice for teens or adults.  Small children could easily hurt themselves on the needles, so if you have younger kids, check out the glowing snowglobes and swirly ornaments.  Be sure to check out the Kiwi Crate Shop to see all the Holiday Crates.  Remember the 50% sale works on everything including the books, shirts, plush and clearance sections.

There is still a FREE Full Box Offer still available.

You will get a free full sized box when you sign up!  Check out all the boxes here for this great deal (You will pay $4.95 shipping for each box).  You can get A free Doodle Crate, Tinker Crate, Koala Crate and Kiwi Crate!

You will be automatically enrolled in a monthly subscription at a price of $19.95 (shipping included) and can cancel at any time. The 1st month is free except for $4.95 shipping. One free trial per brand per household.
