Universal Yums sends a colorful book with pictures and descriptions of each item.

Fried Noodle Chips

Goreng is one of Indonesia's famous stir-fried noodle dishes. It originally came from China, but Indonesia customized it with shallots, sambai chili paste, and sweet soy sauce. The rippled chips have a tasty soy sauce and noodle flavor.

Pandan Creme Cake

Pandan Creme Cake

Green cake! The green color in this cake comes from the pandan plant. The leaves from this plant are used to make rope and medicine. It's known as the “vanilla of the east”. The cake was sweet and pretty tasty!

Milky Melon Chews

These milky chews are my youngest's favorite treat in the box. The green part of the chew has a melon flavor, and the center creme has a sweet, milky taste. These have the texture of a Hi-Chew.

Sugar Coated Coffee Cookies

Sugar Coated Coffee Cookies

The word “JAVA” comes from the island of Indonesia, Java. These cookies are flavored with a light coffee flavor and sprinkled with sugar. These smell more like coffee than the taste.

Melon & Peach Yogurt Gummies

Melon & Peach Yogurt Gummies

While I don't care for yogurt, these gummies are pretty good. I don't taste the yogurt flavor. The green candy is melon flavored, and the orange is peach flavored.

Choco Banana Wafter Rolls

Choco Banana Wafter Rolls

This was my son's other favorite snack. They are crispy, sweet wafers with chocolate and banana flavors inside. Did you know Indonesia has over 300 unique varieties of bananas?

Sweet Corn Tortilla Chips

These chips are based on the food perkedel jagung, sweet corn fritters in Jakarta. They are a famous street food. These chips taste like sweet corn in a corn chip form.

Frosted Choco Cheese Crackers

This is a combination of cheese and chocolate on a cracker. Originally from the Netherlands, this treat is popular in Indonesia. It's a cracker covered in cheese with chocolate sprinkles on top. This is my favorite treat in the box.

Durian & Cheese Wafer Roll

Durian & Cheese Wafer Roll

Durian is popular in Indonesia and is known as stinky cheese. I didn't think this was as stinky as I expected. The cheese is inside a crispy wafer. I didn't care for it, but it wasn't bad.

Choco Coconut Wafer

Choco Coconut Wafer

Did you know that Indonesia produces more coconuts than any other country? They had 19 million tons in 2021. Given the prevalence of coconut, it makes sense that a coconut product would be in the box. This is a crispy wafer covered in chocolate and coconut. I didn't care for this item, but my family doesn't like coconut.

Indonesian Fried Rice Seasoning

Indonesian Fried Rice Seasoning

This spice can make nasi goreng, a popular Indonesian dish. You can use this with shrimp, egg, and veggies for a tasty dish.

Final Thought: My family and I loved our first Universal Yums. Our favorite items were the Milky Melon Chews, Chocoo Banana Wafter Rolls, and the Frosted Choco Cheese Crackers. If you want to subscribe, use this link to save $5 on your 1st box.
