Planet of the Apes Vol. 2: The Devil's Pawn Paperback by Daryl Gregory

Planet of the Apes Vol. 2: The Devil's Pawn Paperback by Daryl Gregory

Planet of the Apes Vol. 2: The Devil's Pawn Paperback by Daryl Gregory $6.99 “A brand new story in classic movie continuity! The ferociousness of the apes’ plans against humans is revealed. As humans face oppressive tactics not seen in centuries, they choose to fight with newfound viciousness, leading them to commit an act of revolution so severe it will have reverberations for years to come.” This book is a comic book style. While interesting, it's not something my son loves.

How to Read Literature Like a Professor: For Kids Paperback by Thomas C Foster

How to Read Literature Like a Professor: For Kids Paperback by Thomas C Foster $6.64  “In How to Read Literature Like a Professor: For Kids, New York Times bestselling author and professor Thomas C. Foster gives tweens the tools they need to become thoughtful readers. With funny insights and a conversational style, he explains the way writers use symbol, metaphor, characterization, setting, plot, and other key techniques to make a story come to life. From that very first middle school book report to that first college course, kids need to be able to understand the layers of meaning in literature. Foster makes learning this important skill fun and exciting by using examples from How the Grinch Stole Christmas to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, from short stories and poems to movie scripts. This go-to guide unlocks all the hidden secrets to reading, making it entertaining and satisfying.” This is a book for kids based on the regular book. It's a book that helps kids learn to read better.

Bo at Iditarod Creek Hardcover by Kirkpatrick Hill

Bo at Iditarod Creek Hardcover by Kirkpatrick Hill $7.99 “Ever since five-year-old Bo can remember, she and her papas have lived in the little Alaskan mining town of Ballard Creek. Now the family must move upriver to Iditarod Creek for work at a new mine, and Bo is losing the only home she's ever known. Initially homesick, she soon realizes that there is warmth and friendship to be found everywhere . . . and what's more, her new town may hold an unexpected addition to her already unconventional family. As with Bo at Ballard Creek, this stand-alone sequel is a story about love, inclusion, and day-to-day living in the rugged Alaskan bush of the late 1920s. Full of fascinating details, it is an unforgettable story.” This looks like a great book and just the type of book my son would want to read.

DK Workbooks: Computer Coding with JavaScript Workbook

DK Workbooks: Computer Coding with JavaScript Workbook

DK Workbooks: Computer Coding with JavaScript Workbook $5.69 “Computer Coding with JavaScript explains how JavaScript works and teaches kids how to complete coding actions with clear, step-by-step instructions and fun pixel art. Readers are also introduced to HTML and CSS; find out how to create shapes, patterns, and simple animations; and discover how to make web pages, including interactive pages.

Computer programming is a powerful tool for learning to learn. Just as mastering a language has cognitive benefits, learning code develops problem-solving and abstract-thinking skills. Breaking key concepts into easy-to-understand parts, the book is a great starting point for understanding computers and code, learning how to program, and practicing computer language. Includes coding in Python and Scratch and how to use a Raspberry Pi computer.” My husband and son were really happy to see this in the box. The book has a variety of fun activities to do in the book.

Wanderville Paperback by Wendy McClure

Wanderville Paperback by Wendy McClure $11.60 “Jack, Frances, and Frances’s younger brother Harold have been ripped from the world they knew in New York and sent to Kansas on an orphan train at the turn of the century. As the train chugs closer and closer to its destination, the children begin to hear terrible rumors about the lives that await them. And so they decide to change their fate the only way they know how. . . . They jump off the train. There, in the middle of the woods, they meet a boy who will transform their lives forever. His name is Alexander, and he tells them they've come to a place nobody knows about—especially not adults—and “where all children in need of freedom are accepted.” It's a place called Wanderville, Alexander says, and now Jack, Frances, and Harold are its very first citizens.” This is the first book in the box that my son wanted to read. It's a really interesting story and I like that it's a hardback book.

Shh! We're Writing the Constitution Paperback by Jean Fritz

Shh! We're Writing the Constitution Paperback by Jean Fritz $6.64 “This factual gem that's written with Newbery Honor author Jean Fritz's humorous touch chronicles the hot summer of 1787 where fifty-five delegates from thirteen states huddled together in the strictest secrecy in Philadelphia to draw up the constitution of the United States!”  My son loves history and he has been enjoying this book. The book tells about the writing of the constitution and it includes a copy of the constitution too.

Final Thought: This box had a total value of $45.55. Overall this was another good box. It's not one of my favorites but my son loved several of the books. The Wanderville book is his favorite book from the box. If you want to subscribe, use the coupon LEARN to save 10% on your subscription.
