This month, your child is traveling to the moon with Scout the dog.

The fun starts with the themed activity book.

Kid Wonder April 2018 Review

Kid Wonder introduces your child to space, the planets, and the Milky Way.

Kid Wonder April 2018 Review

The guide also gives a good explanation for how the planets rotate and the seasons we experience on Earth.

There are a few more pages in the book about space, complete with fun activities to do with your child.

Activity #1 Dress like an astronaut

Activity #1 Dress like an astronaut: Each activity pack comes with an information card about the activity. For this activity, your child will make a rocket backpack and mask.  The project is rated very low messiness, a little difficulty, and very little time involved.

The directions have colored pictures and easy to follow instructions.

All the materials came in clear bags.

My son assembled the rocket for the backpack first.

The next step was to make the flames for the bottom of the backpack and velcro them on.

This mask was part of the activity too.  The backpack and mask together work together to create an astronaut costume.

The backpack turned out so cute. I love the flames on the bottom of the backpack. My son has been using the backpack to hold all the toys from the box.

Activity #2 Put on a space show:

Activity #2 Put on a space show: For this activity, your child makes three finger puppets and a little stage.

Activity #2 Put on a space show:

The instructions were very simple for this project. Each finger puppet came in its own bag, so it was easy to tell what pieces came with what puppet.

Activity #2 Put on a space show:

All the pieces for the activity.

Some of the pieces for the alien were a bit difficult to put together, but the rest of the pieces were pretty easy.

Activity #2 Put on a space show:

To make the stage, your child just folds up either side of the base and put the top on.

Activity #2 Put on a space show:

This is the completed rocket, astronaut and alien.

Activity #2 Put on a space show:

I think this was my son's favorite activity in the box. He has loved putting on puppet shows for our family and his stuffed animals.

Activity #3 Train like an astronaut

Activity #3 Train like an astronaut There was a fun board game for this activity and outdoor exercises to do.

IMG_0923There was a dry erase marker and checklist for the exercises, along with a name tag. Once your child is finished, you can give them their completion certificate. The board game includes two pawns and a dice. The object is to get around the board. This was a fun game my son and I did together.

Activity #4 Lets discover the stars

Activity #4 Let's discover the stars: My son loves art, so he was excited to paint! Your child uses the paint to decorate the telescope and then can use it to look at the stars.

Activity #4 Lets discover the stars

Once your child paints the telescope, let it dry and then go outdoors.

The materials include a telescope, paintbrush, paint, mess mat, apron, and constellation card.

Activity #4 Lets discover the stars

My son loves to paint to do art projects!

My son loves to paint, so he took some time to paint his telescope. This is the telescope fully extended, but it can collapse for easy storage. If you download the sky map app (not affiliated with this box) you can use your phone to locate constellations in the sky. You just hold up your phone to the sky and it will tell you what you are looking at. This would be a great app to use with this telescope.

Activity #5 Design a space shuttle

Activity #5 Design a space shuttle This was the hardest of the projects. It has four of the six dots colored for difficulty, and three dots for the time involved.

Activity #5 Design a space shuttle

The instructions were very details, but a couple steps were a bit confusing. We were able to put it together though.

Activity #5 Design a space shuttle

The project included two packages of model magic, paint, a mess mat, apron, paintbrush, thread, straw, and stencil. The straw is used in the building of the spaceship, so you can create a zipline.

Activity #5 Design a space shuttle

I didn't take a picture of the actual building of the spaceship, but this is the spaceship while it's being painted. As I said, my son loves art.

Activity #5 Design a space shuttle

Activity #5 Design a space shuttle

This is the completed spaceship. There is a straw under the white part of the spaceship to do the zipline. The spaceship was still drying, so we haven't created the zipline yet.

Final Thought: This was a fun and engaging box for kids. The space theme for fun and my son learned more about space! My son loved the puppet theater the most, and I liked that the projects were something that can be kept and played with multiple times. If you have a child 3-6 years old, consider this box. If you want to try this box, use the coupon CRATEJOY40 to save 40% on your 1st box.
