Book of the Month December 2017 Review

Book of the Month is a book subscription box that sends a brand new book for as low as $10.47/month.
On the first of the month, you log into your account and choose between five different books, picked out by Book of the Month Judges. There are authors, editors and more on the judging panel. There is also one guest judge each month. You must make your selections by the 14th, or Book of the Month will pick for you. If you don't like any of the books, you can skip!

Once you make your book selection, you can add up to two books to your account for $9.99/each. Once you get your book, you can log into your account and join the discussions.

Each book comes in a small cardboard box.

Each book is wrapped in plastic against a larger piece of cardboard to keep the edges from banging against the sides.

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen – Judge Nina Sankovitch This book appears to be about an ex wife jealous of the new soon-to-be new wife. The book promises much more than what it appears.

You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman – Guest Judge Gabrielle Union Eleanor is a tell it like it is girl who is bad with social interactions. She meets an unhygenic IT guy and together they end up saving an elderly man, Sammy. Together, the three of them end up forming a frienship who end up making them better people.

Summary Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she’s thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy.

But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office. When she and Raymond together save Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen on the sidewalk, the three become the kinds of friends who rescue one another from the lives of isolation they have each been living. And it is Raymond’s big heart that will ultimately help Eleanor find the way to repair her own profoundly damaged one.

Smart, warm, uplifting, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is the story of an out-of-the-ordinary heroine whose deadpan weirdness and unconscious wit make for an irresistible journey as she realizes. . .

Final Thought: This was a great month of box. I didn't get one of the selections this month, but I the ones I received looked interesting. I plan to read “The Wife Between Us” first.
