Amazon STEM Club Toy Subscription February 2017 Review
Amazon has a new subscription, the STEM Club. This subscription has three age ranges: 3-4, 5-7 and 8-13. Boxes are $19.99/month and we subscribed to the 5-7 group.
From Amazon: STEM Club is a monthly program that delivers handpicked, high-quality Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math toys to your door at a great price. Each month you will receive a different, age-appropriate STEM toy that will encourage your child to learn through play. From robotics to natural sciences, there’s always a new discovery on the way.
A STEM Club Toy Subscription costs $19.99/month plus applicable taxes. You can cancel your subscription at any time. Subscription and shipping is only available in the United States.

For our first month, my son received Thames and Kosmos STEM Bundle 1: Amazing Gyroscope, Dino Skeleton Dig, Bouncy Ball Planets Science Kit $28.00.
Spark Bouncy Ball Planets: This activity comes with everything you need to make tiny planet balls.
The set came with 6 different colors, two molds, directions and a sticker.
The process was really easy. Just fill the molds with layers of colored Polymer granules.
Once filled, your child submerges it in water for two minutes.
One the mold is removed, you let it sit for another two minutes before removing.
My son was able to make 6 planets with the kits. In addition to looking cool, they do bounce well too.
Dinosaur Skeleton Dig For this project, you child set's a little dinosaur in plaster, then digs it out once it's dry.
The kit comes with a mold, tools, spoon (for water), instructions, dinosaur, and plaster.
You mix the first packet with water, then place the dinosaur halfway in the mixture.
The second layer of plaster goes on top of the dinosaur.
You need to let the plaster dry overnight.
My son had a great time digging out the dinosaur. You can see the dino in the plaster mold.
Amazing Gyroscope This kit contained a weighted butterfly project, spinning top and gyroscope. Children will learn physics of motion, forces, and gravity/
The is a look at all the items in the box.
Balancing Butterfly The first project was to add weights to the butterfly wings.
The result was a butterfly you could balance on your finger.
Spinning Top The next project was the spinning top. There were three different discs that you can put on top. Once you spin the spinner, the card would look different.
There was a half white/half black disc.
I got a good motion shot of the third disc. This one was my favorite.
Final Thought: My son really loved this subscription. His favorite projects were the bouncy ball planets and the dinosaur skeleton dig. This set is currently selling for $28.00 on Amazon, so I felt I got a good value too. Amazon has three different STEM subscriptions for kids 3-13. Subscribe and choose one of these three plans.
