First Look. All the food arrives in an insulated bag. The meat is always packed on the bottom, under the ice packs.

Meat - Hello Fresh

The meat arrived fresh and ice cold. Hello Fresh also has vegetarian options!

Turkish-Spiced Salmon with Blood Orange and Couscous Pilaf

I wan't really excited about this one.  I have never cooked salmon before, and it's just not something I typically like. I forgot to customize my box, so that's why I received it.

Hello Fresh Information Card

There is a large card to go with each meal. The front of the card the calories in the each meal, prep time, and total cook time.  There is also colored pictures of each ingredient.

The back of the information card gives full instructions for cooking the meal.  Be sure to read all the instructions before starting your meal.  There is a block on the left that states what items you need. Typically it's just pots, pans, bowls, salt, pepper and olive oil.

Turkish-Spiced Salmon with Blood Orange and Couscous Pilaf

I have started eating salads and my favorite green is arugula, so the salad looked good.

This is the finished two meals, though we had more salad left.  There was actually enough salad to eat it as a lunch the next day.  Typically my 7 year old splits a meal me and I cook something for the 4 year old, especially if we are eating “weird”.

This the meal I really didn't expect to like, but I did!  Okay, so the salmon wasn't pizza but not fishy like I expected.  I ate the couscous with the salmon and it was a very flavorful combination. My husband really likes salmon and he enjoyed this meal too.

Penne With A Kick in a Pancetta-Tomato Arrabbita Sauce

Most of the people in my house love pasta, so I knew this would be popular.  It did have a red chili pepper, but I only used a small bit.

This was an easy recipe to make on a busy night. I only needed a pot, pan and strainer.

My tomato had a little cut in it, so I used another one I had at home.  It might have just split during shipment, but I am emailing Hello Fresh to let them know.

This is the finished dish and it turned out great.  There was so much food and everyone in my family ate it.  Even my pasta hating 4 year old at it! We added just a bit of pepper, so it wasn't very spicy.

Lean Mean Chicken And Greens with Rosemary Potatoes and Gremolata

We love chicken and paired with a salad and potatoes…yum!

This took only 30 minutes to cook and had 659 calories per dish.

Another huge bag of arugula!

These are the finished meals.  My 7 year old loved this and my 4 year old didn't protest too much.

I am from the midwest, so I never pass at a good potato.  This was healthy and filling.

Hello Fresh February 2017 Review

Final Thought: This was a great week of meals. I have really worked on eating healthy and cleaner.  This subscription has really helped me step out of my comfort zone with food.  Two years ago, you couldn't get me to eat a salad. Now, I have eaten them as a lunch!  I love the healthy focus of this subscription and I am always pleased with the portions.  If you want to try HelloFresh, use this link, and get $40 OFF your first box!
