Dungeon Crate April 2016 Review

Dungeon Crate April 2016 Review

Dungeon Crate is a box dedicated to role playing and the tools for adventure. Boxes are $33.99/month and come with Dungeon Crate was conceived on the idea that role-players needed a subscription box specifically designed for them, a box where every item can be used by the player. Dungeon Crate is a team of players designing a box for other players.

The Details:

Cost: $33.99 per month

What's in the box?  You’ll see coins, tokens, miniatures, dice, dice bags, stickers, T-shirts, RPG jewelry, maps, adventures, character sheets, and more. All items are designed for the roleplayer and tabletop gamer.

Shipping: US and US territories.

“The Dice Are Trying to Kill Me!” Everyone loves dice. Box 1603. This month's theme showcases polyhedral treasures to help you decide your fate.

Handmade leather bag - Complete set of Dice - Jumbo D20 Double Fours Die

Handmade leather bag – Complete set of Dice – Jumbo D20 Double Fours Die Several die of different values and shapes give the player the opportunity for more advanced game play. The leather die bag is sturdily constructed with enough room to hold all the die in the crate. There are even instructions on how to soften the leather for a softer bag.

Set of 3 TPK Bookmarks

Set of 3 TPK Bookmarks Nice bookmarks for handbooks or preferred reading.

Hand of Highgarden Coin GoT

Hand of Highgarden Coin GoT As a big Game of Thrones fan, the collectible replica coin was a big bonus.

Critical Hit Micro Deck

Critical Hit Micro Deck If a player suffers a critical fail (rolling a 1 🙁 )when the dice are rolled, the GM can use this deck to determine what happens to the character. These cards are vicious.

Acrylic Dice Tower

Acrylic Dice Tower An acrylic dice tower is included. The pieces are provided, but I couldn't find instructions in the box on how to construct the tower. Luckily I found a picture on the website.

DC 1

Final thoughts: This is a great tool for RPG players. I like the variety this crate has to offer. Even though the theme of this month is dice, there was more to it than just dice! I was impressed that with such a simple tool as dice, DC managed to keep most of the other items related to the theme and tie the whole box together. While there weren't instructions for the dice tower, which I had never heard of, the picture helps you to see it's easily constructed. On the crate manifest, a microgame called “Brutes” should have been in this crate, but unfortunately, it wasn't there. Overall, a very helpful box for the dedicated RPG player!
