My Pretend Place December 2015 Play Projects Review

My Pretend Place December 2015 Play Projects Review

The Pretend Place Play Projects for December 2015 arrived and this month the activity is to make four walkie talkiesMy Pretend Place Play Projects is craft and play subscription box for children aged 3-8 years old. My Pretend Place also has a dress up box that is designed for 3-6 year olds.  You can read the January 2016 Boy Box, which we got to pick with their new “Build Your Own Box” feature.

The Play Projects Subscription box is $15.00/month and each box comes with 2 crafts to complete.  You get two of each craft, so this box is great for siblings or sharing with a friend. I am reviewing the December 2015 Play Projects Box.

My Pretend Place ships wrapped in paper.

Last month's box was plain brown, but this month's box was white with the My Pretend Place logo on top.

First Look

028

There was a letter from Krystal Putzen, who is in charge of maintenance at Shady Lane Elementary school.  She uses walkie-talkies often, so she sent materials so  your child can have some too.

031

There were step by step instructions on how to put the walkie talkies together.  There were enough materials to make four walkie talkies.

029

Everything was included for the project: paper, glitter foam, glue, straws, washi tape, and boxes.

026

There was also an envelope with a handle a foam stickers to decorate the box.  There was a magnet for mom and dad, as well as a letter about My Pretend Place.

004

The first step was to wrap the boxes.  We found trimming the paper a bit worked best.

006

You had to cut a circle and rectangle out f the glitter foam.

008

The shaped glued on to the box to make parts of the walkie talkies.

017

After the project was done, your child can use the stickers to decorate the box. The handle can be used to turn the box into a suitcase.

014

I think this was my boys' favorite project from My Pretend Place.  They ran all over the house talking and blaring sirens.

The finished Walkie Talkies

Final Thought:  This one of my boys' favorite My Pretend Place Play Projects. I had to help a bit more with this project, as wrapping the boxes was tricky.  We actually used clear tape to secure everything, then added the decorative tape over it.  This helped keep everything from coming apart.  After some rough play, the walkie talkies are still together!  If you want to try My Pretend Place, use this link with the code playtime to save 20% on your first box of the dress up box or the craft subscription.
