What's in the box? Every month you'll receive all the materials and inspiration for projects related to a theme such as music, gardening, dinosaurs or colors. Projects may include arts and crafts, science activities, imaginative play and more. We've hand selected and kid tested projects that are open-ended and encourage curiosity, exploration and creativity!

What ages is Kiwi Crate for?  Ages 3-8 but older children can enjoy it too.

Can I skip? Yes – if you do not want to receive a crate for a period of time, you can pause your subscription for 1, 2 or 3 months. To pause, log into My Account page, click “Manage Subscription” next to the subscription that you'd like to pause and then click Pause. You will not be charged while your subscription is paused. Your subscription will automatically resume after the pause period is complete. Pause by 7:00 PM EST on the 4th of the month to avoid being billed for the next crate.

How do I cancel? You can cancel or skip from your account.

Kiwi Crate ships in a green box that looks like a crate.  If you get multiple boxes from Kiwi Crate (ie Kiwi Crate/Koala Crate), they will generally ship together in one big box.

009

First Look.  The theme for November is “Shadow & Light”.

106

Every box come with Explore! Magazine, which is filled with cartoons, games, recipes and crafts.

107

Kiwi Crate replaced the cardboard piece with that featured the two projects for this fold out instruction book.

109

The instruction sheets now have the same layout at Tinker Crate.  The two main products this month are “Flashlight Fun” and “Shadow Puppets”.

110

The instruction sheet folds out to show the full instructions for each product.

111

Flashlight Fun: Your child will put together a shadow box for the flashlight and use the punch outs and transparencies to shine different shadows on the wall.

113

The box was easy to put together, you just fold and add the foam stickers.  From there, you can use the premade shapes or create your own.

021

Here is one of the many shapes L played with.

001

Shadow Puppets: This activity took the most time to complete.  There were many different shapes to create 6 different shadow puppets.

001

Many of the supplies for shadow puppets were also used in the flashlight fun.  I like that there were colored sheets, premade shapes, clear sheets you can write on and paper you can cute shapes out of.

024

It took some time to put together all the puppets but they were pretty easy.

110

The finished puppets.  Each of the puppets have an interactive feature, so you can created different action scenes.

109

Final Thought:  This was a really fun box.  Given the theme was shadows, it was pretty hard to take pictures of the actual play experience.  L and I picked out books that went with many of the shapes and recreated the stories on his walls.  This was a great box to work on story telling.  If you want to try Kiwi Crate, you can get your first box Free, just use this link to try Koala Crate, Kiwi Crate, Tinker Crate and Doodle Crate, just pay $4.95 shipping. You will get a FULL box, not a sample trial.   You can also get 50% off in the Kiwi Crate store with the code SHOP50 and you will get free shipping over $25.00 for a limited time. You will be automatically enrolled in a monthly subscription at a price of $19.95 (shipping included) and can cancel at any time.
