GlobeIn November 2015 Benefit Basket Review

GlobeIn November 2015 Benefit Basket Review

The GlobeIn Benefit Basket is a great box for people who love the regular GlobeIn box, but want a bit less.  The Benefit Basket contains one crafted good from a remarkable, remote artisan, all in a colorful, handwoven basket from their weaving collective in Oaxaca, Mexico.  You will also get story of the artisan, their community, and how you are making an impact on their lives.  The Benefit Basket is $19.95/month or $56.95 for 3 months, but you can get $7.00 off your 1 box of a 3 month subscription with the code TRYBENEFIT.

There was a fold out booklet about this month's product.  The picture of the family is artist, the back tells more about her.

Y'abai Handicrafts Seahorse Pillow Pet

Y'abai Handicrafts Seahorse Pillow Pet from Guatemala $22.00   Y'abai was started after Hurricane Stan.  Many residents were displaced along the coast and Y'abai helps families find work in the mountains.

This is seahorse is made by Silvia Mazariegos, and is made with back-strap weaving, which is a traditional form of weaving passed down generation after generation.  The seahorse is made with various fabrics created by different women from the regions co-ops.

Silvia's sister currently has cancer and is trying to make money to help fund the treatment.  Silvia already lost one sister to cancer, so this diagnoses of her other sister hits particularly hard on the family.  GlobeIn's purchase of 1,500 seahorses helps fund the treatment Silvia's sister need.

Here is a look inside.  I do really love the lids for baskets, since I use them for toys, but I do like this design too.

Final Thought: This box had a total value of $34.00.  I love the seahorse pillow in this month's box, and reading Silva's story, makes me love it even more.  It was nice to see a new design of the basket and I will look forward to finding more uses for it.  Want to subscribe? Save 25% on your first box of a three-month subscription, just use the coupon SUBMOM.
