The box itself was really cute and stylish.

First Look

059

All five bottles were in a container, so you can try different ones without knocking them over.

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban Whisky

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban Whisky (Scotland) This distillery employs only 16 workers and they have some of the tallest stills in the Highlands.

Appearance: Sunlit rose gold

Taste Notes: This has an interesting chocolate walnut aroma. The taste at first was mint chocolate and the strong alcohol made it burn a little, but was smooth.

Amrut Indian Single Malt Whisky

Amrut Indian Single Malt Whisky (India) This single malt whisky is the first made in India.

Appearance: Golden Yellow.

Taste Notes:  This Indian whiskey has a licorice aroma as well as taste. It was different from the others for sure.

Santis Cask Strength Peated Swiss Whisky

Santis Cask Strength Peated Swiss Whisky (Switzerland): This whisky is stored in old oak beer barrels.

Appearance: Dark Amber

Taste Notes:  The aroma was interesting, smokey ham. The taste matches the ham aroma with some nice vanilla hint.

Nikka Yoichi 10 Year Old Whisky (Japan) Whisky has only gained popularity recently, but Yoichi has been around since 1934.

Appearance: Amber with gold reflection

Taste Notes:  This Japanese alcohol had an interesting smell. The taste left more to be desired.  This had notes of vanilla, peat and orange.

060

Writers Tears Copper Pot (Ireland) This is pure pot still Whiskey, which is malted and unmalted barley..

Appearance: pale yellow gold or lightly oaked white wine.

Taste Notes:  This one was my runner up favorite. The aroma was semi sweet with a hint of banana and interesting enough pencil shavings.

Final Thought:  My husband had a a great time trying these spirits.  $24.99 is a reasonable price to try new spirits each month.  If you were to buy all the whiskys in this box (at full size) at retail, it would cost $358.00.  I like that you can choose between multiple boxes each month, or skip your box altogether.  This is a great way to try new spirits without having to buy the full bottle.  To try Flaviar, use this link to get your first box for $18.99.
