Book of the Month October 2015 Review
Book of the Month is a new book subscription service that sends a brand new book for as low as $8.99/month. On the first of the month, you log into your account and choose between five different books, picked out by Book of the Month Judges. There are authors, editors and more on the judging panel. You must make your selections by the 6th, or Book of the Month will pick for you. Mayim Bailik was the guest judge for October.
These were the selections for October. There isn't an option to skip, but I was pleased with the variety of the selection.
The Details:
Cost: $16.99/month, $8.99/month for a 3 month subscription and $8.99/month for a 1 year subscription.
What's in the box? On the first of the month, you will get to select from 5 different books.
Book of the Month ships in a plain brown box.
I took the plastic wrap off before taking a picture, but the whole bundle was wrapped in thick plastic. This helped protect the book against damage in shipping. The bottom blue cardboard fit snugly in the bottom, so nothing could shift around. I was pleased with the care and effort Book of the Month used to ship the book. There was also a note on top from one of the judges.
Smaller and Smaller Circles by F.H. Batacan $20.31 (Amazon Price) I was sent a random selection for review, but this is the book I would have selected myself. This is a mystery thriller about two priests travel through Manila looking for a serial killer who is killing pre-teen boys. This book also costs more on Amazon than the most expensive plan from Book of the Month! So far, this is a really interesting book!
Final Thought: I was really pleased with my first box from Book of the Month. The book is more expensive on Amazon, which is always hard to beat. I have started reading the book and it's grabbing my attention. I love mystery/thriller type books and this one fit the bill.
