August 2015 Bojerky Review

August 2015 Bojerky Review

BoJerky is a craft jerky subscription box that sends 6 ounces of premium jerky for $30.00/month.  If you want a bit less, the 3 oz option is only $15.00/month.  I was sent the 6 oz subscription for review.

The Details:

Cost: $15.00/month for 3 ozs, $30.00/month for 6 ozs

What's in the box?  Depending on your plan, you will get a box full of premium jerky.

064

bojerky ships in a little white box, similar to bocandy.

072

There was a two-sided welcome card from bojerky.

073

There was even a coupon, but it doesn't work on subscriptions,

067

Slantshack Jerky Spicy Redrub Beef Jerky $7.99: This was tender but didn't fall apart in your mount.  It had a nice flavor and the spice couldn't really be detected until you swallow.  This spice enhances the flavor, but won't burn your mouth.  On another note, I wonder if the backward “r” was a reference to The Shinning.

070

Slantshack Jerky Vermont Maple Glaze & Garlic Powder $7.99 This jerky came in huge pieces and were coated in a moist garlic topping.  The garlic was the predominate flavor in this jerky, the maple was hard to detect.  I love garlic, so I really enjoyed this one.

Dave’s Meat & Nuts Root Beer Habenero Moist Beef Jerky: $8.00 This jerky comes in moist, chewy nuggets. I don't like root bear and really couldn't taste it.  This had a flavor, but I didn't really taste the spice.  My husband on the other hand, thought this had a nice kick.

Bayou Blend File Gumbo JerkyBayou Blend File Gumbo Jerky $4.80 My husband really liked this and noted it's interesting flavor.  He tasted the creole/gumbo flavor, while I tasted more the herbs in the meat.  I really wasn't a fan of this one, but my husband enjoyed it.

Final Thought: This box had a total value of $28.78, which is right in line with artisan subscription.  Jerky is expensive and I like that bojerky included a variety of artisan brands.  Between my husband and I, we enjoyed everything in the box.  If you want to try bojerky, use this link.  You can use the coupon FALL to save 30% on your subscription box.
