“A few things that inspired this box: outdoor fun, family, and friends!”

Here is a peek at some of the items in the box.

The June Artisan Box will include a set of 4 handmade coasters from Ghana. (Retail value $12).

“Made from recycled water bags and traditional hand-dyed batik these hip and colorful coasters will help you keep your tabletops safe from stains. Each coaster set recycles 4 plastic water sachets and provides savings for a month for a Ghanaian girl to put towards her future.

For these coasters we will have partnered with ABAN (A Ban Against Neglect), a nonprofit that educates, empowers and employs impoverished women in Ghana. Every year, ABAN welcomes 20-30 women to its school, providing them with both vocational education and life skills coaching.”

Spoiler 2: Every box will contain Za’atar Spice Mix from Canaan Fair Trade (Palestine).

“Ingest an extra boost for your body, mind and soul. This Middle Eastern spice mix tastes great, creates economic stability and is rumored to make you smarter.

According to Palestinian folklore, za’atar has the potential to increase your neurological capacity – a belief that resonates with Firyal Al Sa’di, one of the founding members of Palestine’s first za’atar-making co-op. She’s been packing za’atar in her kids’ school lunches for years.

Firyal and the other members of her cooperative in Jalamah Village combine dried thyme, wild sumac, cold pressed olive oil and roasted sesame seeds to make this special blend. She and her neighbors like to use their za’atar for marinating meats, spicing up a bowl of hummus or spreading onto flat bread. We hope your za’atar brings you creative and culinary pleasure as well.”
