Birchbox May 2015 Review + $1.00 Box

I have been on vacation, so it took me awhile to get to check out my box. Birchbox is $10.00/month and they send five sample beauty and skin care products, every month. Some subscribers can now upgrade to a $30.00 box. The $30.00 box will contain 2 full size beauty or skin care products, along with the five usual products. This is my May 2015 Birchbox review.
When you sign up, you fill out a profile, so Birchbox can customize your box to your preferences. There is a regular monthly box and they also have guest editor boxes. Birchbox releases spoilers and a full reveal of the guest editor boxes, so you will know which box to choose. I actually have two Birchbox subscriptions. This is the box for my newest account.
Here is the details about the Birchbox Point System
For every 100 points you earn, you get $10.00 to spend in the shop. There are lots of ways to earn points too!
2. Review Your Products: You get 10 points for every sample review you complete. Each box contains 4-5 products, so that is around $5.00 in points you can earn monthly! This makes the box $5.00 a month. Right now, when you sign up, you can use the code SUBSCRIBENOW50 and get 100 bonus points. 100 bonus points equals $10.00 in the Birchbox store, so it’s like getting your 1st box free. You can use this link to sign up.
3. Shop!: For every dollar you spend in the Birchbox Store, you earn 1 point for each dollar spent on full-size products in the Birchbox Shop.
4. Refer Your Friends: For every friend you refer to Birchbox, you will earn 50 points
Birchbox ships around the middle of the month and comes in a little box.
Birchbox partnered with Emily Schuman from Cupcakes and Cashmere to curate the May box. There was a special curated box, but I opted for the regular Birchbox box.
First Look: There were two cards in the box about Emily and her new book, but there wasn’t an information card, which was weird.
Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream $7.76 This moisturizer comes in a cute little jar. This has a tri-radiance complex, which makes your skin look more youthful and hydrated.
Chosungah 22 Flavorful Lipstick $18.00 I love Korean beauty products, so I tried this out right away. It is a pretty pale pink shimmer color and isn’t hot pink like it appears. I am not sure why it’s called “Flavorful” because it doesn’t have a taste feature.
Real Chemistry Luminous 3 Minute Peel $4.80 I believe this is the product I choose for my box, but I can’t remember. You just massage this gel into your skin and it will combine with your dead skin (yuck) and then you just wash it off. My skin was feeling pretty blah, so I used this and my skin feels better.
No. 4 Jour d’automne Blog Dry Lotion $6.40 You apply this lotion to damp hair and it will protect it from head damage during blow drying. I never blow dry my hair, but I do straighten my hair, so I am hoping this will work for my heat tools.
Whish Flawless Swipe $2.93 These are wipes you use after shaving to cleanse, restore, and sooth your skin after shaving.
Final Thought: This box had a total value of $39.89. I thought this was a pretty nice box. I was pleasantly surprised with the lipstick. I really liked the facial peel and I think I am going to purchase it full size. For a limited time, you can get your first box for $1.00! Just use this link with the code TATIOFFER.
