February 2015 Ipsy Review + Referral Giveaway

Disclosure: This post contains referral links.

Ipsy is only $10.00/month and I always smile when I see that hot pink envelope on my doorstep.  I wish all mail came in hot pink packaging, especially bills.  Anyway, Ipsy sends a reusable makeup bag filled with sample, deluxe and a few full size beauty/makeup products.  There are usually 5 items in each bag.  You do fill out a profile when you sign up, but bags are pretty randomly put together.  They have a points system too.  You get points by referring people and reviewing your products.  When you get 500-1000 points, you can redeem them for products.

Ipsy has the best mailer bags ever.  They are reusable and just so cute.  My envelope was pretty packed this month, because I added on some items using my Ipsy points.  You can watch my YouTube Video, to see what I added on.  Since I have enough, I am doing a giveaway for 4 people to get their Ipsy referral links used on my website and YouTube channel.  Just enter at the end of the review.

The bag this month was very cute.  I love the pink, grey and white combination.  I do wish the zipper was on top of the bag, instead of the side.

City Color Creamy Lip Stain in Flirtini $4.99  This lip stain goes on easily and is a beautiful pink.  It looks great on me but it has an unpleasant smell.  My husband said it smells like arsenic and old makeup (I don’t know how he came up with that), but said it looked great on me.  I am not sure if I will wear this, although the smell does tend to go away after it dries (mostly).  I think all makeup should be fragrance free, that’s what they make perfume for.

This is a swatch of the lip stain.

eva nyc Up All Night Volumizing Spray $1.50  Meh!  I really don’t need any volumizing products, ever.  I have very thick hair that has lots of volume.  I actually would use a “flatten your hair” product.

Emite Makeup Eyelash Curler $25.00  I have an eyelash curler, but I think I am out of the curler pads.  I will try this for awhile and see how it goes.

Mitchell and Peach Floral No. 1 Fine Radiance Face Oil $23.00  Not to be a total dunce, but I am not exactly sure how to use this.  I think you just put a tiny bit all over your face.  This is said to make your skin look more radiant.

Model CO Cosmetics Blush Cheek Powder in Cosmopolitan $8.99 This is a soft pink color.  This is a great blush and perfect for every day.  I would do a swatch, but it was hard to photograph.

Final Thought: This bag had a total retail value of $63.48.  I loved the blush and the rest of the products were nice.  I do wish the lip stain didn’t have a scent, because I really love the color.  The eyelash curler will be useful, but not particularly exciting.  I won’t use the volumizing spray but I will try the face oil.  I do like the pretty bag this month though.  What did you think of Ipsy this month.  Ipsy is a fun subscription and if you want to try it, click HERE.  I am also doing a giveaway to use 4 people’s referrals for a month!  I will draw four people and use one referral a week.  I can’t promise how many referrals you will get if you win, but I will post your link on my spoilers page (when it comes up) and my reviews.

Like many I too received Cargo lip gloss…But I was confused when I read the amount of the sample and the full size product available online. Full size online link shows .08 oz while sample read 4.5 ml (.15 to .16 oz approx). It looks half the size while reads double the amount…..

I got the face oil, blush and lip stain same as you. Can somebody tell the smell of the lip stain when you are near them, like in a talking situation?

I have to agree with you. I loved the color of the lip gloss but the smell was way too unpleasant. I don’t think I’m going to use this, which is a total shame because the color was great.

The oil is to be used like a moisturizer. Put a few drops in your hand, rub them together and pat on to your face. I’ve switched over to oils from creams as I find them far more moisturizing for my face.
