Box South Review -Sample Box – Spoilers – Giveaway

Box South Giveaway

Box South, formerly named House + Marche is a new subscription box brings great Southern artisan foods straight to your door. Once a month Box South will release boxes full of the finest food the South has to offer – be it chocolates from Savannah, specialty jams from North Carolina, or black  tea blends from Charleston.  Box South recently started a subscription box and each month, they send 5-8 artisan foods to your door.  I reviewed their first box, and you can read it HERE.  Box South sent me a few samples, as an example of some of the great products, that will appear in future boxes.

The Details:

Cost: $55.00

Shipping: Box South ships FedEX ground. At this time, expedited shipping is not available. They currently ship only to the lower 48.

What's in the box? Every month Box South will send a box of small batch artisan foods from Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, The Carolinas and Mississippi.

When am I charged? Credit card charges for subscriptions are recurring every 30 days.. For example, if you order your first Monthly Box on March 20th, then your credit card will be charged again on April 20th.

When will my box ship? Monthly subscription boxes will ship between the 10th and 15th of each month.

French Broad Chocolates

French Broad Chocolates

French Broad Chocolates- Dark and Milk Chocolate bars $13.50  The dark chocolate bar (French Broad Chocolates Palo Blanco Chulucanas 81%) has a sandy texture, deep flavors: bittersweet dark chocolate – earthiness with notes of molasses, with a clean finish.  This is a really rich bar.  It will take me a long time to finish this.

The milk chocolate bar (Riverbend Malted Milk 45%) with no more cane sugar than our 70% dark chocolates, the malted barley flour and milk contribute their own sugars, resulting in a complex sweetness beside a rich counterpart of roasted nuttiness and caramel notes.  This was a really good milk chocolate bar and I put a good dent in the bar.

The chocolate is made in Asheville, North Carolina in a small factory.  The company gets their cocoa from small farmers.  This is great quality chocolate.

Shotwell Candy Company

Shotwell Candy Company

Shotwell Candy Company Old Fashioned Cocktail Caramels  $9.75: This is their play on the classic “Old Fashioned” cocktail.  Buttery soft caramel infused with aromatic bitters, Kentucky bourbon whiskey and orange extract.  The only thing missing is the coupe glass.  These will appear in the April Box!

I am not a big caramel fan, but I thought these were packed with flavor and quite yummy!
