Girls Can! Crate November 2018 Review

Girls Can! Crate is a subscription box for girls 4-8 to teach them that they can BE and DO anything.  Boxes are $29.95/month and each box is themed around a new fearless woman.

Boxes contain 2-3 STEM/art projects, a 20 page GIRLS CAN! activity book, creative play props, a focus character trait for little ones to practice, a character trading card with a featured character trait for kids to practice, 2-3 practical tips for parents to help foster that trait in their little ones every day and MORE.  If you read my reviews, your know I just have two boys; however, I think it's important to teach boys and girls that anyone can be who they want.  I wanted to do this box with my boys, so they will learn about fearless women and that women can do anything a man can do.

Girls Can! Crate gives 10% off the profits back to non-profits that work to empower women and girls.

What's in the box?  Boxes contain 2-3 STEM/art projects, a 20 page GIRLS CAN! activity book, creative play props, a focus character trait for little ones to practice, a character trading card with a featured character trait for kids to practice, 2-3 practical tips for parents to help foster that trait in their little ones every day and MORE.

The box is designed just for girls.

Every girl gets a pair of scissors and some markers with your 1st box.

The other side of the red card had a welcome letter to Girls Can Crate. The letter talks about the mission of Girl's Can Crate.

This card gives details about everything in the box and the different projects.

This month, the featured female is Balquees Bani Hani. There is a card that gives grown-ups information about how you can help girls learn more about cars. Studies have shown that females are quoted higher amounts for repairs if they are not familiar with the problem. There is also a book you can grab from the library to read.

The Driven Auto Mechanic book has a story, games, activities and STEM activities.

Girls Can Crate gives information about Balquees and how she learned to be a mechanic.

There are many activities in the book and they are all themed around driving.

Girls received a car care checklist that goes over major areas to take care in a car.

Activity #1: Experiment with Oil

For this activity, your kid wears the rubber gloves and rub them back and forth till they get warm. Then you apply the oil to the gloves and your child rubs their hands together again to show the reduction in friction.

Learning about friction.

Activity #2: Engineer a Moving Car

My son couldn't wait to do this activity. Your child takes the wooden pieces in the box, decorates them, then makes a car.

My son decorated both sides of the car and then let it dry overnight.

Assembling the car was a bit tricky. My son is crafty, but some of the pieces didn't fit easily together. My son did use the file to sand down rough edges.

My son did one side of the car and I had to put the other side of the car on. It was tricky to get it all to fit, even after sanding it.

Activity #3: Experiment with Acceleration

The last activity lets your child test out the car. The first part of the activity is to make the ramp.

Your child uses glue dots and popsicle sticks to add stability to the ramp. The glue dots were a bit tricky to apply, but it was a good way to develop fine motor skills.

The kit comes with a suction cup that you can use to attach the ramp to a window or slick surface. The care can go by itself by pulling the string on the back of the car.

Each box also comes with a button, themed around the box's theme. You could get a ribbon and hang it in your child's room to display all the buttons.

There are also bonus activities you can do.

Final Thought: My son learned about a new fearless female, Balqees Bani Hani. Girls Can Crate combined fun and learning in one box. My son loved this box and he has been playing with the track since completing the project. If you want to subscribe, use the coupon LAUNCH20 to save 20% off your 1st box.
