Koala Crate May 2015 Review

My 3-year-old gets Koala Crate, and he really loves it.  T loves to paint and color, so he always looks forward to seeing his box.  Koala Crate is a super cute subscription for 3-4 year olds.  Boxes are $19.95 and filled with a fun magazine and craft activities.  Koala Crate has a partnership with Highlights magazine, so there are fun articles and activities included in the box from Highlights.

Koala Crate ships in a yellow box that looks like a wooden crate.

Every month, Koala Crate includes imagine magazine.  This magazine is a partnership with Highlights magazine and is filled with stories, games and poems.  The theme for May is Cityscapes.

Here is a look at one of the activities.  Your child looks at both pictures and points out the differences.

There is a fold out instruction booklet with all the activities in the box.

There is a section of the information card that tells you the details about each activity: skills your child will learn, how messy it is, and the level of grownup involvement needed.

City Building Blocks:  This was low on the messiness scale, and medium on the grownup involvement.  This activity focused on discovering and exploring.  Your child sticks stickers on each of the 9 blocks and then they can build a little city from them.

There were 6 stickers for each block.  T really didn't love sticking the stickers on.  He put on a couple and then he asked me do the rest.

While T didn't like put on the stickers, he had a blast playing with the blocks.

This is a look at the finished blocks.

Stencil Drawstring Bag: This activity was high on the messiness scale, and medium on the grownup involvement.  This activity worked on creating and fine motor skills.  For this activity, you child applies the stencil stickers and then pants the inside.

Everything was included, including a cup to hold the paint.  The paint is blue glitter and really fun!

My little guy loved this activity and choosing where to place the stencils.

While he did miss some, T did a great job keeping inside the stencil.  This was an easy activity for T and lots of fun.

This is the finished bag.  You can use the bag to hold all the blocks!

Skyline Paintings: This activity works on creating and fine motor skills.  This activity was high on the messiness scale and medium on the grownup involvement.  For this activity, your child places stickers on watercolor paper then paint over everything.  When you remove the stickers, it leaves the shape behind.

Koala Crate included three pieces of watercolor paper, so you can do this activity three times.

T loved placing all the stickers.

T loved painting.  He got paint all up his arms and had a blast.

This is the finished piece of art!

This is the three finished pieces.

Final Thought: This was a really fun box this month.  T loved the painting the most and could do that all day.  The blocks were fun to play with once completed.  I love Koala Crate and I love even more how much T loves it.   If you want to try Koala Crate, click here and use the code SHARE10 to save $10.00 on your first box.  This code will also work for Kiwi Crate, Tinker Crate and Doodle Crate.
