Daily Harvest April 2021 Review + $25 Coupon

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. I received this box for review.

Daily Harvest is a meal subscription box based on farm frozen fruits and vegetables. All the food is preprepared and frozen, so all you need to do is heat, blend to prepare.

The food is frozen the day it is harvested, which retains 50% more antioxidants than refrigerated options three days after harvest. When you subscribe, you will select 9, 14, or 24 items for your first box. You can choose between harvest bowls, soups, smoothies, flatbreads, oat bowls, and more.

If you choose the 24 item box, you will save $25 with my coupon BOXMOM. You choose what day you will get your box and how often. The price of the box depends on what items you select; smoothies are $7.99, harvest bowls are $8.99, etc.

Everything shipped in a large black and white box and was shipped by FedEx.

The food was packaged in thick insulated packaging. There was a booklet about Daily Harvest on top.

First Look

Smoothies

The smoothies are very easy to prepare. Just fill the cup with your favorite liquid; they recommend almond milk, pour it into the blender, and blend. Because they are frozen, it can be a bit tricky for everything to come out at once, but I could break up the smoothie. There are 28 different flavors to choose from.

Strawberry + Peach

I couldn't wait to try the strawberry and peach smoothie. It claims to taste like strawberry banana sherbet, and it does! The smoothie is made with organic strawberries, organic bananas, organic peaches (organic peaches, ascorbic acid, citric acid), organic raspberries, organic, gluten-free whole grain oats, organic flax seeds, and organic goji berries. I ended up blending mine with water because that is my go-to for smoothies. There are 140 calories in the smoothie, and it made for a great breakfast.

Forager Bowl

From rolled oats to cracked, chia seeds to flax, sweet to savory—our Forager Bowls are built on nature’s most satiating ingredients and powerful superfoods to get you through whatever you’ve got on your plate. These are easily heated in the microwave.

Cremini + Miso Oat

My husband tried the forager bowl in cremini + miso oat. There are only 160 calories in the bowl, so it makes for a good snack during your mid-day slump. My husband loved the addition of the mushrooms.

Flatbread

Our Flatbreads are made of real, whole ingredients from the crust (seriously) to sauce (alllll veggies) to toppings (duh). They're good, any way you slice it. These bake in the oven until done. I overcooked mine a bit.

Tomatillo + Pepper Flatbread

I love pizza, so I was excited to try the flatbreads. This one is made with sweet potato, Brussels sprouts, tomatillo, pickled pepper, cayenne, and oregano. The toppings were cut up much smaller than the picture but very flavorful. I let my bake a bit too long, but it was still good. This does have a slight spice, but nothing too bad.

Chia Bowl

Nourishing power plants and whole, peak-season fruits swirl together with hydrating chia seeds for delicious bowls that max out on flavor and keep you feeling energized.

Vanilla Bean + Apple

To make this chia bowl, add 1/2 cup of milk to the bowl, cover and put in a fridge overnight. This had 310 calories and has chia, apple fig, coconut, caulifolower and vanilla bean.

Harvest Bowl

The scrape-the-plate-clean kind of delicious, super-nourishing, any-and-all palate-pleasing bowls. Aka good food, ready in minutes. These are easily heated up in the microwave.

Sweet Potato + Wild Rice Hash Harvest Bowl

My husband selected this bowl for lunch. It's a mix of tomato, wild rice, sweet potato, great northern beans, avocado, and maitake. My husband loved this with a bit of extra salt and paprika. Total calories are 340, and my husband loved it.

Brussels Sprouts + Lime Pad Thai

We loved the harvest bowls. This bowl contains Brussels Sprouts, kale, carrot, kelp, jalapeno, and lime. This has the quality of a salad but tastes like a yummy stir fry.

Broccoli + Cheeze Harvest Bowl

This isn't made with real cheese but it tastes like it does. This has 15 grams of protein and is made with sweet potato, bell pepper, and nutritional yeast for Parmesan-like umami. It tasted like cheese covered veggie skillet. The parmesan added a bit of a kick and it was less than 400 calories.

The soups are super nourishing thanks to farm-fresh vegetables and *the* most power-packed, distinctly unique ingredients on the block.

This was one of the first meals we made and we didn't really follow the instructions. While in the middle of a meeting, we heated up the soup and neglected to add the milk and puree it to be a soup. Even with the mistake, it was still tasty! I am sure it would've been even more amazing had we actually followed all the instructions.

Lattes

To make a latte, add a cup and a 1/2 of milk, the pod contents and microwave for 1:30. There are countless flavors to choose from and each cup contains three pods.

My husband tried this for breakfast and he said it tasted like dark chocolate hot chocolate. My husband could drink this every morning.

Oat Bowl

Real, whole fruits + vegetables, multi-tasking superfoods, and zero fake ingredients (or dried fruit like ‘other’ oats) make for a one-step breakfast with minimal effort.

These oat bowls are a great breakfast choice. This bowl is made of oats, apple, cauliflower, walnut, pumpkin seed and cinnamon. These is great warm breakfast

Bites

A combo of powerful superfoods and a touch of sweetness bring you literally the easiest thing you can eat. Just pop ‘em out of the cup and snack.

Cacao Nib + Vanilla

These bites can be eaten right out of the freezer. We prefer to wait a bit for them to get a bit less frozen, but they tasted great. These taste like chocolate chip cookie dough.

Final Thought: My family doesn't follow a strict veggie and fruit-based diet, so I wasn't sure what to expect. We were really impressed with the different selections of foods. The harvest bowls were our favorite, followed by the bites. There are many different types of snacks and foods. This subscription is perfect for busy people. Quickly heat and enjoy a healthy meal. Choose the 24 item box, you will save $25 with my coupon BOXMOM on your 1st box.
