PetPlate April 2018 Review

PetPlate is a healthy dog food subscription. When you sign up, you fill out information about your dog. Based on the plan you chose, your dog will get pre-portioned containers of food. This isn't just any dog food. PetPlate only sends the best food, made of USDA meat, fresh vegetables and fruits. You can sign up for a trial and pay as little as $20 to try it. When you sign up, you give your dog's name, age, and weight. You choose your plan, either Full or Half. The trial box will come with 28 meals for four weeks. After the trial period, you will be charged for whatever plan you choose.

You can choose between all turkey, 1/2 turkey/1/2 beef or all beef. I was sent all beef for review.

Everything shipping in a large box by FedEx.

The food was protected with padded insulation.

All the food arrived frozen and there were some frozen packs to make sure everything stayed cold.

I received 15 containers, which actually worked out to 30 meals. My dog needed 1/2 container in the morning and the same in the evening.

The dog food was solidly frozen, You can keep the food in the freezer and then bring it to the refrigerator when you are ready to feed your dog. PetPlate recommends not leaving food in the refrigerator for longer than 7 days.

Based on the size and age of your dog, feeding guidelines will differ. When you first start giving your dog the new food, they recommend doing it in a gradual way. For the first couple of days, your dog should get just 1/4 of their meal with their new food, then gradually increase the amount of a week. Buddy did great transitioning to the new food.

The food is 11.7% protein, 5.2% fat, 13.91% fiber and 68.19% moisture. I loved that I knew all the ingredients in the food.

Feeding Buddy

PetPlate recommends heating up PetPlate as a special treat. Since the food is human grade food, I didn't mind using my dishes to heat it up. The bowl is a half of a container, a serving for Buddy. I will say, I was impressed with the smell. Dog food typically stinks, but this really smelled good.

As soon as I opened the door with the food, Buddy was ready to try it.

I gave him a little bit to try, and he devoured it. I decided to give him a bowl of his food and some PetPlate, just to see what would go first.

Of course Petplate easily won.

PetPlate is Buddy's favorite food. In fact, he doesn't want his old food anymore. PetPlate is Buddy's dog food from now on. We rescued Buddy after he was abused, neglected and starved. We pamper our guy and want only the best for him. Before Petplate, Buddy wouldn't even eat in front of me. Buddy will eat his PetPlate as soon as I bring it outside. One note, Buddy spends a good amount of time inside, but he will only eat outside.

Buddy loves PetPlate. He wakes up in the morning and instead of lounging in bed, he will go to the door and sit by his bowl, waiting for his PetPlate.
