Koala Crate June 2016 Review
Koala Crate is a subscription for 3-4 year olds. Boxes are $19.95 and filled with a fun magazine and crafts. Koala Crate has a partnership with Highlights magazine, so there are fun articles and activities included in the box. My 4-year-old gets Koala Crate and he loves that he can do crafts just like his older brother.

First Look
Koala Crate partners with Highlights Magazine to create Imagine Magazine. The magazine is filled with stories and games, similar to Highlights magazine. The theme for June is “Camping”.
There was pictures and information about going camping.
There was also a suggested activity on how to make a chair tent and suggested books about camping.
All the instructions for the projects are in a fold out guide.
Each activity has a key to let parents know how messy it is, how much grownup involvement is needed and what skills the child will learn.
Campfire (Messiness: Low Grownup Involvement: Medium) In this activity, your child makes a little campfire. There is even a little flickering light to go underneath.
There were not many materials needed for this craft.
Your child uses the wooden stick to put little wads of tissue paper on the sticky campfire base.
You attach the foam base, then add sticker rocks around the edge. The flickering candle fits under the fire.
This is the completed campfire. I couldn't get a really good picture of the candle flickering, but it makes a nice effect.
Camping Cookout (Messiness: Low Grownup Involvement: Medium) Using the campfire your child just made, your child can pretend to make s'mores and a hotdog.
All the piece were already made. The stick in project 1, becomes a hot dog and marshmallow roster.

There was red and yellow ric rac to make ketchup and mustard.
Bear Backpack (Messiness: Low Grownup Involvement: Medium) The last activity was my favorite. Your child uses sticky felt pieces to make a little bear from a backpack.
The backpack was super cute and is a nice size to store small toys or take to daycare.
The instructions for the stickers were easy. T needed little to no help making it.

Final Thought: This was just the cutest little crate. My son really loved everything in the box. T has been carrying everything around in his little backpack playing. We just bought a new camper, so this toy will be going with us on our mini vacations.
