Bramble Box May 2016 Review
Bramble Box had a “Flower Shop” theme for the May 2016 Bramble Box.
Bramble Box is a play subscription box for children 3-7 years old. Each box is $25.00/month and boxes are filled with dramatic play materials. Boxes have specific themes, like post office, detective, and scientist. When you sign up, you will get a welcome kit with a pack of crayons, glue and sticker book. Instead of being surprised each month, you can now pick your box each month for up to 6 months.

Each Bramble Box has a cute little fox on the top. The box this month can be used to turn into a flower box.
First Look
Welcome Kit: Your first box comes with a bottle of glue, a pack of crayons and a sticker book. Every month, your child will get a new sticker to put in their sticker book.
Each month, the sticker goes on a hot air balloon.
The theme for May is “Flower Shop”. Children make make their own paper flowers and sell them in their own shop.
The box turns into a little flower box, just use tape or glue to affix the sides.
There were laminate pieces to use for the store. Your child can use a dry erase marker or crayon to write the store hours and prices. The money can be cut apart and used as pretend play. The open sign has a cute “closed” sign on the back.
There were tons of supplies to make flowers. There were also two little pots to make plants.
The information book has information on how much adult involvement is needed and how difficult each project is. The first set of flowers uses a fan folding method to create fun flowers.
Twisting the stem on the flowers was good practice for fine motor skills.
I had to help fan out the flower, but it turned out so cute.
My 7-year-old was able to make the flowers by himself.

The second type of flower was a baking cup flower. This was T's favorite flower to make, because he needed very little assistance from me.
To make the basic flower, your child turns a baking cup inside out and places it in another cup. The adult helper makes a hole in the center for the stem.
Your child puts the stem in, makes a little loop, then adds a sticker.
My son had a great time making all kinds of flowers.
T set up his flower shop in the living room and the whole family played together. It was a fun playing without one of the kids wanting to play the XBOX or watch a movie before bed. T had so much fun, he took his box to his room, so he could have it ready for tomorrow.
This is a look at the completed flowers. There are several single flowers, a bouquet and pretty single flowers.
Final Thought: This month's box was really fun. When I first saw the flower making theme, I wasn't sure if my rough and tumble boys would enjoy it. Both boys had fun making the flowers and even more fun with the pretend shop. T is at the age where he loves playing store and using his imagination, so I know this box is going to be played with often.
