GlobeIn March 2016 Review

GlobeIn theme for March is “Memory”.  Memory goes backward and forward in time. As in, “Remember that time we…” and “Don’t forget to…” Memory encapsulates our nostalgia for the past, our plans and dreams moving forward, and those pesky little to-dos that will get us there.Boxes are $35.00 month to month and filled with handmade items from all over the world.  I love the quality of the items in my GlobeIn boxes.  You also find out about where each item comes from and who made it. You can save 25% on your first box of a three-month subscription, just use the coupon SUBMOM.

GlobeIn has already started to add great features to their boxes and more are rolling out soon.  Here is a complete list!

GlobeIn has also has a Benefit Basket.   The Benefit Basket contains one crafted good from a remarkable, remote artisan, all in a colorful, handwoven basket from their weaving collective in Oaxaca, Mexico.  You will also get story of the artisan, their community, and how you are making an impact on their lives.  The Benefit Basket is $19.95/month or $56.95 for 3 months, but you can get $7.00 off your 1 box of a 3 month subscription with the code TRYBENEFIT

GlobeIn shipped in a huge box.

The quote for this month is “Sometimes you will never know the value of something until it becaomes a memory. – Dr. Seuss”.

First Look

The information book has detailed information about everything in the box.

Handwoven Basket from Dona Selerina Garcia (Mexico) $12.00 Every box comes with a new basket, though soon, you will be able to select a new item instead of the basket.  I am excited to see what options will be available.

Undated Weekly Planner by Marie Mae Co. $18.00  I wasn't really excited to get another planner, since it's already March, but this one isn't dated.  It is made by Ewurama, who works for Marie Mae Co.  Marie Mae provides countless opportunities for their employees to be successful.

Inside the journal, there is plenty of space for notes, and daily appointments.  I will save this for next year.

Wooden Photo Frame, (Turkey) $15.00  This is my favorite item in the box!  My first frame had the back stand come off, so GlobeIn rushed me a new one.  I love subscription boxes that are quick to address any issues.  This frame is made by Calebi Erturk's family business, which has been around over 100 years and employees 50 people.  The business is doing so well, Calebi's children are opening their own ateliers.  This frame is nicely made and holds a 4 x 6 picture.

Elephant Poo Bookmark, Sri Lanka $3.00  If you missed my Benefit Basket review, this bookmark is made of real elephant poo.  In an effort to save elephants from being killed, this company makes paper goods using the poo from the local elephant's vegan diet.  The paper is properly cleansed and sanitized.  There is absolutely no odor.

Wooden Pencil Cup, (Turkey) $15.00 Arifi left his field in computer science to open his own atelier.  He works with an array of different woods while still appreciating the respect for the trees that have fallen to create his masterpieces.  This is a nice classic pencil holder that will go in my 6 year old's homework space.

Final Thought: The total value of this box was $63.00.  I loved the picture frame and pencil holder.  Each GlobeIn box is always so interesting and useful.  This is a box that I never have to figure out what to do with the items in the box.  You can save $10.00 on your first box of a three-month subscription, just use the coupon WELCOME.
