November 2015 Pumeli Art of Relaxation Box Review

Pumeli, pronounced |pu me li| that sends items designed help women relax for 5-10 minutes a day.  Boxes are $49.95/month and each box contains three basic parts: something to write on, a tea to drink and fair trade items.

The Details:

Cost: $49.95/month, $249.95/6 months

What's in the box?  Boxes contains three basic parts: something to write on, a tea to drink and fair trade items. All the items are made to work together to help you relax in 5-10 minutes a day.

Pumeli ships by USPS and there was a little message on the side of the box.  Permission to Relax “Time-slowing rituals with things you can feel, smell and hold in your hands delivered to you.”

First Look.  The theme for this box is trees because they “inspire us to stay grounded, adapt gracefully to the present moment, continuously renew ourselves and take time to rest”.

The back of the card had a list of everything in the box.

Second Look.

Jacaranda Wood Ornament $16.00 This giraffe ornament was made in Kenya and 10% of sales of this goes to animal conservation.  The giraffe is made of a light weight jacaranda wood and features very intricate details.

Baobab & Orange Revitalizing Facemask There are two parts to this facemask, the orange peel and Aduna Baobab powder.  The Baobab Tree (The Tree of Life) produces organic baobab fruit.  The fruit contains vitamin c and antioxidants, so the powder is good for your body and skin.  The orange peels adds some extra vitamin c to your skin.  I thought you needed a blender or mortar/pestle (based on the instructions)  to make the mask, but you just need to mix the ingredients.  I will make the mask tonight!

Mali Mud Cloth Notebook $29.95 The book is stamped with the Pumeli logo, so I think this is exclusive to the box.  The fabric is handwoven in Mali and dyed using mud, water and tea.  The paper inside the book is 100% recycled Kraft.  You can use this book to write your dreams, stories, quotes and thoughts.

JustTea African Chai Loose Leaf Tea + African Bag ($9.99 – Tea)  This chai tea is 100% natural and has sweet and spicy taste notes from the licorice root and cloves.  The tea came in a drawstring bag, which is made from African fabric.  The tea will go to my husband and I an going to use the bag as a snack bag for one of my sons.

Tea Filters: These came rolled up and tied with string, but I wanted to show what they look like.  These filters are single-use biodegradable and unbleached.  These are great to keep at the office, when you don't want to wash your tea filter daily.

Kenyan Teaspoon $2.95  This teaspoon is hand carved from Olive wood.  The beads around the handle from the local marketplace.  I love this little spoon and there is even a hole in the handle, so you can hang it up.

Final Thought: The total value of this bag was $58.95, which doesn't include the tea bags, African cloth bag, or face mask.  I really loved this box, because it combined two things I love: relaxation and artisan products.  If you want to check out Pumeli for yourself or as a gift, use this link.
