Girls Can! Crate September Review
Girls Can! Crate is a subscription box for girls 4-8 to teach them that they can BE and DO anything. Boxes are $29.95/month and each box is themed around a new fearless woman.
Boxes contain 2-3 STEM/art projects, a 20 page GIRLS CAN! activity book, creative play props, a focus character trait for little ones to practice, a character trading card with a featured character trait for kids to practice, 2-3 practical tips for parents to help foster that trait in their little ones every day and MORE. If you read my reviews, your know I just have two boys; however, I think it's important to teach boys and girls that anyone can be who they want. I wanted to do this box with my boys, so they will learn about fearless women and that women can do anything a man can do.

What's in the box? Everything came in a little brown box.
There was a welcome note for girls. Your child's first box contains scissors and markers, tools for projects throughout their subscription.
A welcome note to grown ups gives some statistics on women in STEM jobs and how by age 5, girls begin to see math as “for boys”, despite being just as good at it.
There was a colorful information card that went over the different contents of the box.

There was another card for grownups to help foster bravery in their children.
- Encourage your little one's dreams.
- Inspire you little one to take risks.
- Remind your little one of their worth and how much they are loved.
- Model bravery.
Tool Kit: Your first box comes with a pair of scissors and a pack of Crayola markers.
Aviator Hat and Goggles: This cute little hat and goggles lets your child pretend to be a pilot.
My son had fun flying around the basement. The hat was pretty snug on him though, he is 6 with a rather average size head.
Fearless Flier A Girls Can! Crate Activity Book: This activity book features a story about Bessie Coleman, the first black woman to earn a pilot's license and the first person of color (male of female), to earn an international pilot's license.
The first part of the book was about Bessie. I read this to both of my kids, but my 6-year-old is the one who was really interested.
L loves planes, so we spent time talking about how planes fly and some famous female aviators.
Activities There were several activities to complete in the book.
There was an activity on math skills, which was a bit too advanced for L.
There was a recipe to make Banana Planes (my 3-year-old will love this) and a word search.
There was a section specifically on “Being Brave”. This explained that being brave is more than doing daring.
The last activity in the book explained Bessie's uniform. There was a sheet of stickers included, so your child can dress Bessie. I didn't know if L would want to do this, but he really enjoyed it.

There were fun, colorful stickers your child can use to decorate their projects.
There was a featured card about Bessie Coleman and her many achievements.
Build Your Own Planes
There were three different planes your child can build from the kit: a straw plane, balsa glider plane and paper airplane.
There was a bag of plane parts.
There was enough materials for two straw planes, a balsa plane and a paper airplane.
L's cutting skills have really improved thanks to school and fun craft boxes.

High Flying Stunt Game Using the planes made in the previous activity, you can use the enclosed poster to make a fun game.
There were instructions for the game.
The game chart was front and back so you can play multiple times,
There was a giant poster with shapes to cut out. When one of your planes goes through the hole, you get that number of points.
This is the poster set up in the doorway. Pretty washi tape was included in the box.
My son and I had the best time playing this game. I am challenging my husband to a game tonight.
I chose the paper plane and L took the balsa plane. He won fair and square.
Final Thought: I was really impressed with Girls Can! Crate. This box was really packed with materials and fun things to do. My 6 year old son really enjoyed this box and I liked teaching him about fearless women. I love that this box is for girls, without makeup or glitter.
