Doodle Crate Halloween Candles Review

Doodle Crate has a great new box in their online store, perfect for Halloween.  The Doodle Crate Halloween Candles Box is $19.99 and it comes with everything you need to create cute Halloween themed candles.

Doodle Crate is a subscription service that inspires children 9 to 16+ to be creative and have fun.  Each monthly crate encourages children and teens to gain confidence and learn new techniques.

I was sent the  Doodle Crate Halloween Candles Box to review. #HalloweenwithDoodle

Everything shipped in the regular Doodle Crate boxes.

First Look

There was a fold out instruction booklet that showed you how to complete the craft.

The craft was broken down into two steps: make your candle and then decorate.

Three square votive holders were included in the box.

To make the candles, you need wax, crayons, a short glass, white paper cups, wicks, and wooden sticks.

There was also a paint pen.  This is to decorate the votive holders with.

To make the candles, mix cut up crayons with a half cup of wax.  Head the wax for 45 seconds, then stir and reheat if needed.

To set the wick in place, you pour a bit of wax into the glass and let the wick set.  You are then ready to add wax for the layers.  You can adjust the saturation of each color by adding or limiting the amount of crayon in each candle.  You make all the candles in this same shot glass.  It does take a bit of time to do all the candles, but I just did it throughout the day.

You have to let the candle sit for around 30 mins in between layers. I found you could cut the wait time down by putting the candle in the freezer between layers.  I was going for a candy corn candle and apparently, I forgot that yellow was supposed to be on the bottom.

When you are done with each candle, use the paint pen to decorate each votive holder.  I lack in the artistic skills department, so I made my mine two sided.

When you flip around the candles, the votives spell the word “BOO”.

Final Thought:  The Doodle Crate Halloween Candles Box was really fun to do and there were enough materials to make four candles.  I have extra wax, so I am going to buy a few wicks and make candles for Christmas.  Our family loves the Kiwi Crate Brand.  They consistently produce fun kits that kids and adults enjoy.  If you want to try Doodle Crate, Koala Crate, Kiwi Crate or Tinker Crate, click HERE and use the code SHARE10 to save $10.00 on your first month.  If you want this crate, use this link to grab the Halloween Candles Box.
