My Pretend Place July 2015 Play Projects Review

The Pretend Place Play Projects for July 2015 arrived and this month, it's all about pirates!  My Pretend Place Play Projects is craft and play subscription box for children aged 3-8 years old. My Pretend Place also has a dress up box that is designed for 3-6 year olds.  You can read my Gender Neutral Dress Up Box review, which was all about Pirates!

The Play Projects Subscription box is $15.00/month and each box comes with 2 crafts to complete.  You get two of each craft, so this box is great for siblings or sharing with a friend. I am reviewing the July 2015 Play Projects Box.

My Pretend Place shipped by USPS and was wrapped in brown paper.

The box itself is plain brown, so your child can decorate and customize it.

Everything was wrapped in purple tissue paper and sealed with a sticker.

There was a letter to your child inviting them to perform in the play “Molly's Pirate Pursuit”.  Your child's mission this month is to decorate the enclosed masks and practice their “Arr”.

There was a general information card included for parents, along with some pirate stickers and a handle for kids.  The box can be transformed into a suitcase, perfect to hold your child's treasure.

The project this month was to decorate two pirate masks.

Pirate Sticker Books:  Two books of pirate stickers were included in the box.  The bottom right hand corner of the books show a peek at the stickers.  Each book has a whopping 224 stickers.   These are cute, but I wish there was something in the box included to use these for.  Since the premise behind this box is to share projects with a friends/sibling, I doubt both kids will put stickers on the same suitcase box and share it.

Pirate Masks: Two pirate masks and 10 crayons were included in the box.

My 3 year old loves to color and generally will spend more time at it than my 6 year old.

My 6 year old really doesn't like to color, which should make Kindergarten extra fun.  Anyway, i persuaded him to do it and he did have fun.

This is the Gender Neutral Pirate Dress Up box, you can read that review here.

Final Thought:  I love My Pretend Place and generally love all their boxes.  I did feel this one came up short this month.  While the masks were cute, there wasn't anything to actually create/craft.  I think a Pirate Spyglass would have been a really cute project for this month, it would have gone great with the dress up outfit and went well with the map activity from the bonus box (read that review here).  While the sticker books are really cute, I wish there was a project or sticker book they could be placed in.  I do think My Pretend Place is a great company and I especially love their dress up boxes.  If you want to try My Pretend Place, use this link with the code pretend to save 30% on your first box of the dress up box or the craft subscription.
