Ivy Kids August 2014 Review + $5.00 Coupon

Ivy Kids August 2014 Review

Ivy Kids is a new subscription box launching July 2014 for children 3-8.  Ivy Kids is a small, home-based business started by a stay-at-home mom and former teacher. Each kit is personally made with “tender loving care” by a teacher/mom on the Ivy Kids’ team.

Kids are $38.95 a month for the monthly option, and you get so much stuff.   You can also add on a sibling package for $5.00 a month.  Each month you will receive a kit containing a book and ten or more activities based upon the story. Everything you need to learn and play is included in your kit. The activities have been carefully crafted to encourage curiosity, problem solving, and creativity in young children. The Ivy Kit games and projects are a fun way to develop fine and gross muscles, build math and literacy skills, encourage reading comprehension, and promote scientific thinking.  I am not a natural teacher, but I want to help my 4 year old learn new things this summer.

Ivy Kids comes in cute green boxes.  The top has the logo and the description of the box.  The August Box features the book Jump, Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh

This month, all the activities are themed around the book Mouse Paint.  The activities this  month featured paint, and colors.

Run Away from the Cat: This game features a race of mice, to get away from the cat.  Children learn math concepts, colors and social skills.

I Spy with my Little Eye: Each person takes a game board and takes turns giving clues to the other person.  When you guess the right item, you put a marker on the picture.

Making Patterns, Making Patterns: You lay a strip out and have your child repeat the pattern.

Mouse Sun Catcher: Your child takes the tissue paper and glues it onto the sun catcher.  Ivy Kids personalized the mouse with L's name!

This is L's finished sun catcher.  I love it!

Color Paddle Matching Game & Color Paddle Exploration: Your child uses the paddles to match the right colors to the pictures.  You can also use the paddles to look through and see the world in different colors.  There was also a book All About Colors.  The books talks about primary colors and what happens when you combine colors.

Make Your Own Mice: This was L's favorite activity.  Your child makes a mouse from the materials.

This is L's finished mouse.  Isn't it cute?

Hide the Mice: You take all the mice and match them to the right colors, so the cat can't find them.

Storyboard: There are several cut outs from the book.  Your child uses them to act out the story.

Mess Free Finger Painting & Making Colors:  Your child uses the paints to paint the mice according to the color names below them.  Your child will have to combine paints to make some mice.  There is also a mess free option where you child can mix colors in baggies.

Final Thought: L really loved this box.  L's favorite project was making the clay mouse, but we haven't finished all the projects yet.  There was 11 projects in this box, plus a book!  I love Ivy Kids.  They pack so many activities in the box, that work with a range of children.  If you want to try Ivy Kids, click HERE and use the code IVYLAUNCH to get $5.00 off your subscription.
