Plated Dinner Week Jan 20th and Free Plate Code

Plated Dinner

I was really excited about the Plated menu for the week of Jan 20th.  I didn't sign up in time, so I didn't get my plates until this week.  I have said this many times, but I am not a very great cook.  It doesn't come naturally to me, but it is important for me to give my family healthy, homemade meals.  I love the Plated sends everything I need to make a complete meal.  I ordered four plates this week and chose Philly-Style Cheese Steaks and Baked Chili Chicken Meatballs with Chard and Peppers.  I have small children, so I just got plates for my husband and I, and planned to share.

Plated Week Jan 28th

My Plated was delivered on Tuesday and all the cold was fresh and cold.

First Look

Meal #1: Philly-Style Cheese Steaks

I couldn't wait to make the Philly Cheese Steaks.  I love eating them, but I have never made them.  I only needed 2 medium pans and a baking sheet to make them.  They were made with steak, mushrooms, onion, parsley, rolls, Worcestershire sauce, cheese, and a poblano chile.   I was a bit nervous about the chile.  I love spicy food, but the rest of my family doesn't.

Making the cheese steaks was really easy and they turnout fantastic.  The chili added just a hint of spice and flavor, nothing overpowering.  I posted a picture on my personal Facebook page, and my fiends were pretty surprised.  I am keeping the recipe and making these again!  The cheese steaks were very filling and even my children had some.  I planned a few different foods for my children, as I didn't know if they would like the cheese steaks.

Meal #2 Baked Chili Chicken Meatballs with Chard and Peppers

The next night I made Baked Chili Chicken Meatballs with Chard and Peppers.  I will be honest, I had no idea what chard was, and it didn't look very tasty.  I am a bit weird, in that I hate salad.  I figured I would hate chard, but I tried to be open minded.

This recipe included onion, jalapeno, poblano chile, garlic, chard, chicken, breadcrumbs, ketchup, chili powder, tomatoes, and cheese.  I was a bit nervous about the peppers, chili powder and of course that chard.  Everything was pretty easy to make and it turned out great.  There were several meat balls and plenty of food for all four of us.  Even with all the peppers and chili powder, the meal wasn't spicy.  The chard was surprisingly tasty!   Everyone loved the meatballs.
