April 2015 My Pretend Place Dress Up Box Review + Coupon - Boy "Superhero" Box

April 2015 My Pretend Place Dress Up Box Review + Coupon – Boy “Superhero” Box

My Pretend Place is a subscription box for children 3-8, that encourages pretend, dress-up, learning and imagination.  My Pretend Place‘s mission is to get children crafting, dressing up, pretending and using their imaginations!  There are two boxes, a dress up box and a DIY Projects Subscription box.  The Dress Up box is $50.00 every 3 month (quarterly) and comes in boy, girl or gender neutral.  This box is for children 3-6.  Each box will contain dress-up costumes, activities or crafts, and other pretend play inspiration.

On the months that you don't receive a dress up box, you will be emailed (or mailed) some bonus material.  To get a good idea of the complete three-month process, you can read my three reviews here (Month 1, Month 2, Month 3).  This is my second My Pretend Place Dress Up Box review.

The Details:

Cost: My Dress Up Box: $50.00/Quarter.  DIY Projects Subscription $15.00/Month

What's in the box?

  • My Dress Up Box:  This box is for children 3-6.  Each box will contain  dress-up costumes, activities or crafts, and other pretend play inspiration.
  • DIY Projects Subscription:  This box is for children 3-8.  Every month, your child will receive two crafts (same craft), so this is great for siblings.

Coupon: Use the coupon playtime to save 20% on your first box of the dress up box or the craft subscription.

When will my box ship?  Your first box will be sent within 2 days of subscribing.  After that, boxes will ship the first week of the month.  Remember the dress up box ships every 3 months.

When am I billed?  You will billed right before your box ships.

How do I cancel?  You can cancel from your account, after your first box ships.

Can I return?  Yes!  If you aren't happy, you can return your complete box for a refund!

The dress up box came in a big white box.  The make the box extra sturdy, so it can be used as a suitcase.

First Look

003

There was a letter on top for your child.  Tragedy has struck Bonnyville and Commissioner Sinclair needs your child's help.    A new group of villains has moved in and is up to no good.  Your child must pick a superhero name, put on their cape and “hone” their superhero power.  This box is all about Superheros.  As soon as I heard the theme, I was excited.  My son loves Captain America, Spiderman etc.

Little Adventures American Hero Cape, Power Vest, Mask

Little Adventures American Hero Cape, Power Vest, Mask $29.99  The main dress up outfit this month is a superhero outfit.  The outfit comes with a cape, muscle vest, and eye mask.   We received the cape in another children's box, but I don't mind having two.  Also, this month, the boys will have another color variation to their costume.

This is a full length shot of the cape.

Superhero Shield Red/Blue

Superhero Shield Red/Blue $6.99 This shield is made with durable thick foam and is perfect for any superhero outfit.  There are elastic straps on the back, to make holding the shield easy.  This was the item my old son loved the most.

Superhero Cuffs:

Superhero Cuffs: $7.50 (1/2 the cost of the DIY box) No superhero outfit can be complete, without cuffs.  This craft was in the January 2015 DIY Projects Subscription (formerly the “craft box”).  While I love the craft, if you received the Jan 2015 craft box, this will be a duplicate.  The craft is easy for kids to do (my 3 and 5-year-old has made them) and it fits with the theme.

Dex: The Heart of a Hero

Dex: The Heart of a Hero $6.99  This book is about a little dog named Dex.  Every day a big cat named Cleevis, bullies Dex.  Dex is small and weak but wants to be a hero.  Every day, Dex exercises and works to be bigger, as he wants to be a hero.  In the end, Dex proves that heroes come in all sizes, and even the littlest ones can do big things.  I read this to both of my children and used it as a lesson on bullying.  This was an adorable book

Meet “Super L” :  His super power is to protect people from tornadoes.

My Pretend Place knows that kids love boxes, so they include a handle and stickers to turn your child's box, into a cute suitcase.  I love this idea and my kids love the project.

Final Thought: This box had a total value of $51.47, which is just over the cost of the box.  The $50.00 cost of this box, doesn't just include this box though.  There are two additional months of goodies your child will receive.  Just click the links at the beginning of this review, to see all three previous months.  My Pretend Place Dress Up box is a super cute box for 3-6 year olds.  Not only do you get a great dress up box, but your child will also get a few goodies for the next two months.   If you want to try My Pretend Place, click here.  You can save 20% on your first box when you use the coupon playtime.

Do you want to know what's in the girl and gender neutral boxes?

Girls:   Girl boxes will feature two color variations: pink/purple and red/blue

I *think* this photo is pretty accurate for the girl boxes.

Gender Neutral:  Gender Neutral boxes will feature a cool pirate theme!
