Ipsy July 2014 Review

Ipsy July 2014 Review

Ipsy July 2014 Review

Ipsy is such a fun subscription. At only $10.00 a month, you get a glam bag full of 4-5 beauty items.  You can't beat the price and I love the glam bags.  You fill out a survey about your makeup preferences and then Ipsy sends a bag geared to your preferences.  Once you get your bag, you can review your items online, and tell Ipsy what you think.  When you complete reviews, you earn points, which can be redeemed for special items.

Ipsy has the best mailers!  They are easily reusable for swaps or other mailing purposes.

I love the bag this month.  This is hot pink and has a cute scalloped edge.  I love that this bag opens from the top instead of the side.  You can hold so much more in this one.

BareMinerals 5 in 1 Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow $6.00: This is in the color Devine Wine.  I am not sure about the color. The other color this month is Barely Nude, and it is a much lighter color.  I will try it out and try to make it work.

I wish I had received these items instead of the hair oil and nail polish , which i would have loved I got a far too dark bronzer ( which I will never use ) and dark tanning oil , which I will also never use. This was my first box – so I canceled. Bummer. I liked the pixi balm and the salt spray though

This too was my very first Ipsy bag. After waiting months and months and months on the the waitlist…all this year until I created a Facebook account just to get off the waitlist.
Maybe this was a punishment bag for doing so? I don’t think the products sent could be any more wrong for me. Honestly, I would rather be told “we’re going to send you a random assortment of stuff” than be lead to believe that my responses to their quiz had ANY bearing whatsoever on what they sent me.

I’m very fair and not into sun, didn’t mark bronzers as anything I would like… So I have dark tanning oil! Why not the sunscreen? Bronzer? Ridiculous. Beach hair spray stuff? So not me. The pixi balm was fine. I know it was 50/50 on the bare minerals…and so hoped for the shadow duo. Got this ugly mud brown sample. Ugh, I don’t think I could be more disappointed. Part of my wants to cancel too, but after all the build up and waiting for this all year..I feel like I can’t give up yet! Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment. I mean, the next bag can’t be as bad,,,can it?

Also, I just received an email saying visit your glam bag room with a picture of the July bag and 5 products….but they were NOT the five I received. Is this just a general picture? Because that picture was of a bag that would have been wonderful for me!!!! Could I have just received the wrong box? I would have loved the mascara and nail polish….

Can anyone tell me if they received a similar email picture? Or was it specific to the bag you received?

I could have written you r email ! Everything you wrote absolutely was true for me . I did cancel.

  4. Zeta, July 27, 2014:

I had the same exact crappy and disappointing selection for my glam bag, and I got that taunting email as well, with a picture of all the good items I would have preferred to receive. I guess they didn’t bother to consider my responses in the survey at all this month. Last month, what I got was much better.

I think that the waiting list is really a trick, just force you to go through all these hoops to join to make you reluctant to leave. My mascara in June didn’t stink but it was generally a crappy product. My Jesse’s girl eyeliner died after 2 uses. Guess I was lucky it didn’t explode. I was given beach spray in June and July. Most of the lipsticks/glosses are bubble gum pink. I told them I was fair like a vampire and got tanning oil. The only product I really loved was that eye shadow that looks like mud. For some reason it was the perfect shade for me. I am also getting tired of receiving my bag a whole week after the blogosphere has gotten theirs. So for August I am doing both Birchbox and Ipsy to see whose is the best. If BB creams Ipsy I will cancel.
