Kiwi Crate: April 2013

My 3 1/2 year old son loves Kiwi Crate.  You get a box of materials to make 2 or more big crafts a month.  My son has been getting it for several months and loves it.  Each Craft is like a toy.  We have all the items he has made and he still plays with them.  He has made a penquin bowling set, board game, playground for a pet, Animals, rocket ball to throw into rings and so much more.  This month’s theme is “Green” since Earth day is April.

Little Spark Box Review: 13-14 month old

I found the Little Spark website and was excited to see a company that only sent toys. Pricing: 1 Month: $34.99 3 Months: $99.99 6 Months: $199.99 12 Months: $379.99      The day that you sign up, is the day you will be billed each month (or every 3, 6, 12 months).  The age only goes up to 18 months at this time.    The box arrived in a large brown box with Little Spark stamped on it.  There were 4 cards that were written on front and back.  My box is for a 13-14 month old.  This month’s theme was Social Clues and Cues.  The cards talked about separation anxiety and the developmental milestones that form from attachment.  They discussed social referencing (how your baby looks at you for cues in new situations).  The cards defined attachment, secure base and social referencing as well.

Bluum: April Review

I decided to try Bluum after watching lots of videos on You Tube. Bluum is 34.99 a month.  They are similar to Citrus Lane.  I signed up my son who turned 13 months in April.  I was sent the Movin and Shakin box for a 13 month old.   I had heard some negative feedback about the company and I was planning to cancel when I got my box.  After opening the box this month, I changed my mind.  This box was packed full and well worth my money.  Inside the box, Bluum includes a card with your child’s age and a description about development.  Once your box is delivered, you get an email from Bluum detailing the contents of your box, the value and a description of the items.  You can also log onto your account and give feedback about the items. Contents of the box: April 2013 Box Card Mossworld Snack Trap Retail Value Bluum’s Price: $5.00, Amazon: $4.99 I really like the snack trap.  I have two I bought a Target a few years ago, but my 13 month old has trouble getting his hand in.  The lid is much easier for little hands to reach inside. Melissa and Doug Peek a Boo Panda Retail Value Bluum’s Price: $7.99 Amazon: $8.43 My son loves this toy.  It is wooden and the panda’s arms clack to cover the bear’s eyes.  I love Melissa and Doug toys and would be quite happy to have one of their toys in every box. Weleda Baby Calendula Baby Cream Retail Value: Bluum’s Price $12.00, Amazon: $10.10 I had never heard of this product until I started researching subscription boxes.  It is supposed to help with Ecsema and I am excited to try it on my son. Baby Mum-Mum’s in Apple Retail Value: Bluum’s Price $3.19.  AmazonContinue Reading

Julep Maven Review

Julep Maven is primarily a nail polish/hand care company.  I saw an offer to try Julep Maven free (just pay $3.99 shipping).  It looked interesting, so I signed up.  Normally, boxes are $19.99 a month.  You go to their website and take a style survey.  You end of falling into 1 of 5 categories: Modern Beauty, BoHo Glam, Bombshell, Classic with a Twist, and It Girl.  I was classified as Classic with a Twist.  Once you have your style, you get to see your box and it contents before signing up.  Every month you get 3 full size products in your box.  I received a black mascara and two nail polishes: a red color and a pinkish/brown color.  You also get a surprise in every box. Usually with most subscription boxes, you get a box of surprises every month.  I like with Julep Maven that you see what is in your box before it ships.  Every month, you log into your account between the 20th and 24th of the month to see what your box looks like.  You can choose the box that matches your profile, choose a different profile or choose not to get any box.  I love the freedom of the program.  As a Maven you also get 20% off all purchases each month and get free shipping. If you want to sign up to try Julep Maven, click on this link http://www.julep.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/175532/ and then use the code FBGIFT to try your 1st box free. The Box

Lalaalu Trial Box Review

Lalaalu is a new company out of New York City.  The are a subscription box company that offers 3 boxes a month: a baby box (0-12 months), a toddler box (1-3 yrs) and a big kid box (4-6 yrs).  The boxes are 35.00 a month or 30.00 a month if you subscribe to a longer plan.  The company states each box is valued at 60.00.  They ran a promotion that you can try a box (trial) for free and just pay shipping.  I was looking for a box for my oldest (almost 4) and decided to try it out.  I found out before the I received the box that they ran out of the normal month’s boxes and so they send a box full of past month’s items.  They stated it would represent what would come in a regular monthly box. Here is a picture of the contents.
